Ken
Adkins Quarter
Horses is located on 60 acres
in Southern West Virginia. The farm sits on the
top of Wingrove Hill in the small community of
Scarbro. Ken and Kelly moved to the farm in 1992
with all the hopes and dreams that a couple of
newlyweds
could imagine. Shortly after the move they had
the opportunity to build what had been a lifelong
dream, an equine facility where they could enjoy
their horses and better prepare them for the weekend
shows that they had come to enjoy. Both in the
education field they loved working with others
of all ages at just about anything.
In 1995 the opportunity presented
itself and Ken began fulfilling his personal dream
of training horses. It was the perfect fit, still
teaching, both horses and people, it was the dream
job. Since then Ken has worked with many types
of horses. Quarter Horses though had always been
the favorite and that was the beginning of the
great combination. A teacher teaching, horse and
rider, to not only ride but to enjoy the experience.
The awards are nice and the enjoyment
that comes with success is great, but once a teacher
always a teacher and if you see Ken at a show
or visit him at the farm you'll see him doing
the two things that bring him the greatest professional
satisfaction; teaching horses and working with
people.
